Golf in Punta Cana: Best Golf Courses & Tee Times

Golf in Punta Cana: Caribbean Golf, Ocean Views & Championship Courses

Punta Cana may be famous for its white-sand beaches, warm Caribbean water and all-inclusive resorts, but golfers know there is another major reason to visit: some of the most spectacular golf in the Caribbean.

Located on the eastern coast of the Dominican Republic, Punta Cana offers an impressive concentration of resort and championship golf courses. You can play dramatic oceanfront holes one day and a tropical inland layout surrounded by palms and lakes the next.

Whether you are planning an entire Punta Cana golf vacation or simply want to add one round to your beach vacation, Caribbean Tee Times can help you find and book the right course.

Punta Espada Golf Club

Designed by Jack Nicklaus, Punta Espada Golf Club at Cap Cana is one of the signature golf experiences in the Dominican Republic.

The 7,396-yard, par-72 layout offers views of the Caribbean Sea throughout the round, with eight holes playing directly along the ocean. The combination of turquoise water, white coral coastline and immaculate golf holes makes Punta Espada one of those courses golfers remember long after their vacation ends.

The course opened in 2006 and has also hosted professional tournament golf, including the Cap Cana Championship.

Corales Golf Club

For golfers looking for a serious championship test, Corales Golf Club should be high on the list.

Designed by Tom Fazio, Corales is a 7,670-yard, par-72 course featuring six oceanfront holes along natural cliffs, coves and the Caribbean Sea.

Its famous finishing stretch is known as the Devil’s Elbow, culminating with the 18th hole wrapping dramatically around the Bay of Corales.

Corales is also well known internationally as the host venue of the PGA TOUR’s Corales Puntacana Championship.

La Cana Golf Club

La Cana Golf Club offers 27 holes designed by P.B. Dye at Puntacana Resort & Club.

The three nine-hole layouts — Tortuga, Hacienda and Arrecife — give golfers plenty of variety. La Cana features numerous Caribbean Sea views while offering a different experience from the demanding championship layout at neighboring Corales.

For golfers spending several days in Punta Cana, playing both La Cana and Corales is an excellent way to experience two very different golf courses within the same resort area.

More Punta Cana Golf Courses

One of Punta Cana’s strengths as a golf destination is that you aren’t limited to just the premium oceanfront courses.

Caribbean Tee Times also offers access to courses including Hard Rock Golf Club at Cana Bay, Iberostar Bávaro Golf Club, Cocotal Golf & Country Club, Punta Blanca Golf Club and Barceló Lakes Golf Course.

These courses provide additional options for golfers staying throughout Bávaro, Punta Cana and the surrounding resort areas.

That makes it possible to build a multi-round golf vacation rather than playing the same course repeatedly.

Golf and a Caribbean Vacation in One Trip

Punta Cana works especially well for groups and families where not everyone wants to spend the entire vacation golfing.

Play an early round and spend the rest of the day at the beach or resort. Golfers can experience championship layouts while non-golfers still have everything Punta Cana is known for — beaches, pools, restaurants, excursions and nightlife.

It is one of the reasons Punta Cana has developed into such a strong Caribbean golf destination.

When Should You Play Golf in Punta Cana?

Golf is available throughout the year, but December through April is particularly popular because the weather is generally drier and temperatures are comfortable for golf.

Those months also coincide with peak winter travel from the United States and Canada, so desirable morning tee times can become harder to secure.

If you already know your travel dates, booking your golf before arriving in Punta Cana is the safer option rather than waiting until you reach your resort.

Don’t Just Book One Round

If golf is an important part of your vacation, consider playing several Punta Cana courses.

A strong golf itinerary could combine the oceanfront drama of Punta Espada, the championship challenge of Corales, and the resort-golf experience of La Cana, then add one of Punta Cana’s other courses depending on where you’re staying.

Every course offers something different.
